The Trans‑Mull Pony Trek
 16th October 2008

 The Trek

Paula and Ed Sells are going to ride two ponies across the Isle of Mull from Killiechronan to Fionnphort starting on October 16th 2008.

The Isle of Mull is off the west coast of Scotland and our route will take us 40 miles through mountains, roads, bogs and beaches.

We hope to camp along the way and expect the trek to take about 4-5 days, but we'll be traveling at a pace that is comfortable for the ponies.

The Ponies

The ponies, called Sid and Caspian (below), are very kindly being lent to us by Liz Moore of the Killiechronan Pony Trekking Centre on the Isle of Mull. If it wasn’t for Liz there’s no way we’d be able to complete the ride and we owe her a huge thank you!

Sid

If you’re ever in Mull and fancy a pony trek through this stunning part of the world, Liz would be happy to help you out.

You can contact her personally by phone: 07748 807 447, or by email: mullponytrekking@fsmail.net

Us

Paula Sells is an experience horse rider and is now focused on horse logging.

Ed Sells (Paula’s son) has just finished a PhD in engineering and is looking forward to camping with horses in the Scottish wilderness, and having nothing whatsoever to do with technology.

Why

This ride is to raise money and awareness for the 'Riding for the Disabled Association' (RDA). This great charity provides disabled people with the opportunity to ride to benefit their health and well-being.

All donations will go directly to the fantastic Oban & Lorn RDA group (which includes Mull riders) who are currently trying to raise £80,000 to build an indoor school to operate in all conditions. The area receives 57.3 inches (145 mm) of rainfall every year!
